It’s easy to be dazzled by how high Mizuki leaps into the air or how she spins her body like some cartoon character. To truly appreciate what she brings to Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling, though, you should watch her face.
Emotion beams from that expressive visage. She grimaces. She stings from disappointment. She burns with passion.
It’s the combination of that emotive expression and her physical gifts that have helped her craft so many stirring matches. Mizuki’s catalogue of championship bouts and grudge matches is prime stuff.
The Magical Sugar Rabbit has sparkled as TJPW Princess of Princess champ, as a vet passing the torch to the next big star, as both Yuka Sakazaki’s close friend and adversary.
What are the best bouts of her career so far? After much deliberation, I put together my top 10 Mizuki matches. Subjective as wrestling is, we are sure to disagree somewhere.
Let us know on fka Twitter (@resuramag) what your list looks like.
Honorable Mentions:
Mizuki & Miyu Yamashita & Yuka Sakazaki vs. Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi & Shoko Nakajima, Go Girl 3 (Aug. 28, 2022)
Mizuki, Miyu Yamashita, Rika Tatsumi, Shoko Nakajima & Yuka Sakazaki vs. Arisu Endo, Miu Watanabe, Moka Miyamoto, Suzume & Yuki Arai, TJPW 10th Anniversary Show (Dec. 1, 2023)
Both of these bigger tag matches are super fun and star-studded. The latter is Mizuki’s highest-rated bout on CageMatch.
I struggled to find a spot of them on the list proper, though, because these contests aren’t as Mizuki-centered. She’s a part of an ensemble cast in both bouts whereas she’s a leading lady in the ones that made the top 10.
10. Mizuki & Yuka Sakazaki vs. Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe, Grand Princess (March 19, 2022)
The Magical Sugar Rabbits have given us all kinds of electric action during their time together but there may be no team that brings out their best like Rika Tatsumi and Miu Watanabe aka Daydream. That’s shown off here in this Princess Tag Team Championship match in Ryogoku Kokugikan.
We start off with great, regal entrances befitting the Grand Princess stage. Then there’s all sorts of fun teamwork to watch including Sakazaki wielding Mizuki like a weapon. There’s a fluidity throughout this title clash.
Tatsumi’s focus on Mizuki’s leg forces the Popping Sugar Rabbit to show off her emotional range: toughness, anguish, frenzied energy. It does, however, lose some of its momentum in the second half which keeps it from climbing higher on the list.
9. Mizuki vs. Maki Itoh, Tokyo Princess Cup (Aug. 14, 2021)
Mizuki vs. Itoh is one of TJPW’s most best/underrated rivalries in its history. These two clicked so well together time and time again, and their combined storytelling skills often helped them create something memorable as they did here.
In the Princess Cup semi-final, Mizuki stood in the way of Maki making her first final. Their battle showcases Maki’s toughness and helped elevate her as a true top-of-the-card star.
There’s such an interesting dynamic at play. Mizuki tries to outgrapple and outrun The Cutest in the World. Itoh, meanwhile, turns to straight viciousness, smashing down on Mizuki.
A great example of Mizuki’s ability to spotlight her opponent. This helped launch Maki forward, to a Cup victory and beyond.
8. Mizuki vs. Miu Watanabe, Tokyo Joshi Pro ‘25 (Jan. 4, 2025)
A classic power versus speed matchup where both women played their parts expertly. Miu beats up and bowls over Mizuki. The woman in white, on the other hand, uses her quickness and timely strikes of her boots to beat back the powerhouse.
Their chemistry is great here, and there are so many striking images of Watanabe swatting down Mizuki out of the air.
As much as Miu fans surely didn’t like seeing the UpUpGirl dethroned, this ended being a key part of her story. This defeat only served to strengthen Miu’s resolve and these two would have an even better rematch eight months down the road.
7. Mizuki vs. Rika Tatsumi, Grand Princess (March 16, 2025)
Aside from no. 1 on this list, this is the Mizuki bout I’ve rewatched the most. It is just so moving, and emotionally powerful, and I want to get sucked into the drama again.
Rika does what she does best: working the leg with no mercy. Mizuki, in turn, wails in pain, suffering though every stomp and focused attack. There’s a tense battle on the apron as well as a stirring sequence where they slug it out while each clutching to the other’s wrists. Mizuki’s desperate escape from the dragon sleeper is beautiful stuff.
I tend to hear more praise being tossed toward the matches Mizuki’s had against other opponents, but this one deserves flowers aplenty.

6. Mizuki vs. Miyu Yamashita, Wrestle Princess IV (Oct. 9, 2023)
For the first time in their rivalry, Mizuki entered as the champ. That dynamic created a natural tension as the audience wondered if she could hold on against TJPW’s Ace.
This is among the best Mizuki’s matches in terms of just pure in-ring action. It’s a go-go-go battle with so many emphatic moments.
Mizuki has to leap from the top rope over and over. Taking great risks are the only way to beat the bigger, stronger Yamashita. She kicks out of a Skull Kick and that maddens Miyu.
But in the end, Miyu took back the title, and a crying Mizuki falls into her arms afterward. She’s visibly distraught. Leave it to Mizuki to so effectively slap one more layer of emotion onto one of her bangers.
5. Mizuki vs. Maki Itoh, Summer Princess (July 8, 2023)
This is in the conversation for Maki Itoh’s best career match.
The rising star was challenging for Mizuki’s POP title. It seemed like it may just be the time that we see the former idol make it to the top of TJPW, and there was a massive electricity around the match because of that.
Mizuki and Itoh slug it out plenty here. It’s more fiery and aggressive than their Princess Cup fight. They scrap on the outside of the ring. There’s a bigger sense of danger, too, with how much they try to smash each other into the arena floor.
You get big moves from the top ropes and top-notch selling from both as well as throwbacks to their Princess Cup match like the rope-hung DDT out on the apron. Lots to savor all around.
A super well-told story that only cemented Mizuki’s marquee status.

4. Mizuki vs. Miyu Yamashita, Tokyo Joshi Pro ‘22 (Jan. 4, 2022)
At this point, this was Mizuki and Miyu’s biggest match against each other. Their first meeting for a title. And Mizuki was hungry to be top champion for the first time.
Yamashita controls much of the action. She’s a beast; Mizuki plays the survivor. The fight in Mizuki’s face, the fire in her strikes is inspiring. She’s on a mission, determined despite the odds.
When it’s clear Yamashita has her number, Mizuki falls apart in the ring, overcome with emotion. It’s a powerful scene, the challenger’s heart laid out for us to see before she’s hit with one final knee to the face.
3. Mizuki vs. Yuka Sakazaki, Grand Princess (March 18, 2023)
No bout in this ranking will elicit a bigger split opinion than this one. The Princess of Princess title match leans on stageplay-esque drama that either put people off or impressed them. Count me as being in the latter camp.
Sakazaki was hesitant to hurt her longtime friend. She kept trying to delay things or back from up from the action, torn between defending her championship and remaining loyal.
And as the match wears on, Yuka cranks up the intensity. She absolutely clocks Mizuki and things get heated.
It’s intense, full of emotion, and is a uniquely told tale. I’m a sucker for tag partners fighting each other and this one scratched that itch in a huge way.
2. Mizuki vs. Miu Watanabe, Wrestle Princess VI (Sept. 20, 2025)
If you have this as your no. 1, I get it. It’s freaking great.
Watanabe’s crowning moment as she reclaimed the POP title helped make her feel like an even bigger star than when she first won the championship.
En route to that coronation, we saw both women at their best. Mizuki was the clever, quick technician. Miu was the charging bull.
The early mat wrestling is intense, as the pressure of the moment is palpable. Mizuki was especially smooth on this night, evading and attacking like a bird of prey. It’s fluid and full of counters.
Fans voted this the best TJPW match of 2025. It’s got the drama and action to be Mizuki’s best, too, if not for a match that for me outdid it in terms of emotion.
1. Mizuki vs. Yuka Sakazaki, Wrestle Princess (November 7, 2020)
In arguably the best story told in a TJPW ring, the two members of The Magical Sugar Rabbits faced off for the company’s biggest prize.
There is an impassioned charge to everything, from the early mat wrestling to when they start dropkicking each other with malice. It’s a battle of grace versus brute force, of friend against friend, of love and animosity.
Yuka is marvelously sadistic here as she attacks Mizuki’s leg. The challenger takes a bunch of punishment and keeps fighting on. Her spirit fills this bout.
This remains the peak of their rivalry, and for me the best thing Mizuki has crafted in a TJPW ring. It’s a match that solidified my love for this company and one I keep coming back to. Magic on the mat.
