For many years, we as wrestling fans have had to try to explain wrestlers to others who may not know who we’re talking about. You can explain their look, or how they carry themselves in the ring, but the easiest way to try to describe them is to tell them what type of wrestler they are inside the squared circle. Are they an absolute powerhouse who tends to throw their opponents around, or are they a more methodical technical wrestler who prefers to break their opponent down limb by limb? With the introduction of our wrestler profiles on the site, we decided to add a type or classification for each wrestler in their profile, as we hope it will better explain what type of wrestler someone should expect to see if they are going to watch them wrestle a match. Down below are the various classifications and their definition. A wrestler is allowed to have up to two classifications at the same time. If you, as a fan, feel like the classification a wrestler currently has is wrong, feel free to let us know and we’ll take another look at it.

ALL – AROUNDER (ALL – AROUND)

A jack of all trades in a way, their skills are well rounded, but maybe not one or two particular traits stand out.

ATHLETE (ATHLETIC)

A wrestler known for being a superior athlete compared to their peers. Bigger, faster, stronger than the rest.

BLUE CHIPPER (BLUE CHIP)

A wrestler who is still young in their career, but is showing a ton of potential to be a possible future superstar in the business.

BRAWLER (BRAWLING)

A wrestler who doesn’t use a lot of technical strikes, but throws a lot of basic strikes like punches or kicks. Can also be a wrestler who tends to do quite a bit of wrestling on the outside of the ring.

BRUISER (BRUISING)

The roughest and toughest in the business who are known for leaving their opponents all bruised and battered by the end of a match. More times than not, it’s a wrestler who enjoys doing things a bit hardcore with the use of weapons and their environment.

COMEDY (COMEDIC)

A wrestler who wrestles a more comedic style looking for laughs and smiles more than trying to show technical ability. Just because a wrestler is a bit comedic, doesn’t mean that they can’t be technically talented as well.
