Welcome back to another edition of the “Joshi Wrestler Index,” where today we’ll be covering the “Hardcore Queen” herself DASH Chiasko! The last edition of JWI didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped when it comes to the amount of contributors, but this time we had quite a nice turn out with ten people including myself submitting ratings on top of the seven members from the crowd who pitched in.
DASH Chisako started her career 18 years ago in July of 2006, as a part of Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling and has been a mainstay there for her entire career thus far while taking some bookings outside of the company from time to time. Early on in her career, she didn’t wrestle a lot of matches in comparison with some wrestlers from other companies as she only wrestled 48 matches in her first three years in the business. In 2009, that number was almost matched as she wrestled 42 matches that year. From there on, she normally wrestled around 40 or more matches per year which really helped her lock in and become the talent that she is today.
DASH would be known by many who have watched her over the years as a tag team specialist with many of her title reigns being of the tag team variety. Her main partner was her sister Sendai Sachiko who she tagged with up until 2016 and the two of them won a total of seven tag team championships together. Another one of her regular partners is Hiroyo Matsumoto who DASH has won tag team gold with three times in her career. All in all, DASH has won tag team championships 14 times in her career, which has to put her up there towards the top in the scene.
Over the past few years, she’s become especially known for her work in hardcore matches where she’s able to use plunder and her daredevil mindset to put on shows for the crowd in attendance. While she’s not a fan of deathmatches because of the blood involved, she does enjoy the use of chairs, jumping off ladders and putting people through tables with high flying dives. While those types of matches may not help you gain singles gold, it can be used well for a high-stakes match that will no doubt make people want to tune into the show. There’s so much that I could say about DASH but I won’t try to bore you, let’s get to the task at hand and start revealing her ratings.

A wrestler’s ability to use power related moves and how well they are known for using their power inside of the ring.
My Rating: 7
While I don’t think of DASH Chisako as a power wrestler off hand, she does use her power pretty effectively when she needs to. Over the years, as one of the best tag team wrestlers in the business, she’s been able to show off her strength from time to time, especially when she’s tagged with Hiroyo Matsumoto. I feel like a rating of seven is a little above average, and that’s where I’d put her in this category.

A wrestler’s ability to do throws and suplexes as well as their ability to do their moves cleanly without messing up.
My Rating: 8
“A lot of DASH Chisako’s matches nowadays are of the hardcore variety, or at least a lot of the ones I see are that way, so it would be easy to think that she’s not very technical, but that is far from the truth. DASH Chisako’s 18 years of ring experience has allowed her to perfect the moves that she does, which is one half of what makes up this rating. The other half is from her use of suplexes, and while I wouldn’t say it’s her specialty, she uses them enough.“
Dave Coumans’ Rating: 7.5
“Not known specifically for her technical prowess, but can defintely swap holds with the best of them.“

A wrestler’s ability to perform at a high speed as well as their ability to perform high flying moves.
My Rating: 8.5
I think it’s safe to say that DASH Chisako isn’t a “high speed” wrestler in the same way that some of the best high speed wrestlers are in a place like STARDOM, but even if she’s slowed down slightly over the years, she still uses her speed to her advantage, especially in tag team matches. Another important part of the agility rating is the use of high risk moves from the top rope and that’s where DASH excels! Her frog splash from the top is one of the most beautiful in pro wrestling, and she’s never shy about jumping from high places to put herself or others through tables.

A wrestler’s ability to use submissions and chain wrestling as realistic looking offense.
My Rating: 8
I believe that DASH Chisako’s grappling ability is good but not great. She can do the chain wrestling to start the match with anyone, as her years of experience has given her the ability to turn the tides on most early match holds she’d find herself in. I don’t personally see her as a submission specialist or anything, but if she needs to use one to wear her opponent down, she’s more than able to. An above average rating for grappling seems fair to me.

A wrestler’s ability to use strikes effectively as a realistic part of their offense.
My Rating: 9
While I don’t believe that DASH Chisako is as good of a striker as someone like Sareee or Momo Watanabe who we’ve covered in prior editions of the “Joshi Wrestler Index,” DASH is still quite a hard hitter. Her forearms are powerful, her dropkicks can send her opponents flying, and she’s all around a total badass who’s going to leave you with quite a few bruises the next day if you step in the ring with her.
Dylan Murray’s Rating: 10
“DASH Chisako is a wrestler that will hit you hard and hit you often. Few are on her level when it comes to strike exchanges, and her sneaky kicking ability is absolutely lethal and lends itself beautiful to many of her best matches. Not to mention her proficiency as a brawler is second to none and really helps her stand out among her contemporaries.“

A wrestler’s ability to use good psychology in their matches to make them make sense and tell a story.
My Rating: 9.5
18 years of ring experience means that you’ve learned a thing or two, and one of the most important things that wrestlers learn over the years is the psychology of it all. DASH Chisako not only tells a good story in regular singles matches, but when she gets a chance to get hardcore, her creativity really shines. The psychology she uses with the various weapons and spots she sets up are a thing of beauty, and her ability to tell good stories in tag team matches really sets her apart from a lot of other wrestlers on the scene. I may not have given her the full rating of 10 for this, but I was very close to doing so. I think seeing a few more single match epics might be enough to get her that extra half point, but I personally haven’t gotten to see enough of those yet.

A wrestler’s looks when it comes to marketability. This includes both their physical look as well as their wrestling attire.
My Rating: 9
DASH Chisako in civilian clothing is a beautiful woman, but DASH Chisako in her wrestling gear is a total badass! The way she comes out dressed in mostly black, with a bit of a grunge aesthetic, the bandana over her mouth and nose, and chair in hand that says “Hardcore Queen” and her name on is a total vibe, and one that I’m a big fan of. When she sits on her chair in the ring, and puts her arms out like everyone there is supposed to bow down to her, the aura is off the charts. Once the match starts, she puts in the mouthguard that is normally black or red which not only matches the gear, but makes her look even more menacing. All in all, she has one of the best looks in the business.
FAR5222’s Rating: 9
“Has a distinct look that she can easily change up depending on the match. From her entrance robe, mouth guard and gear. The bob cut she rocks the best in the scene as well.”

A wrestler’s natural star power when it comes to marketability. It also includes their ability to talk on the mic and charisma shown.
My Rating: 7.5
“This one is a bit tricky for me, because I want to give her a higher rating, and I think some of the contributors will do so, but for whatever reason I feel like the way Sendai Girls has booked her over the years has lessened her star power rather than raised it. DASH Chisako is someone you can easily put into main events on a show especially with her amazing tag team acumen, but when it comes to singles title success, it took all the way until last year for her to win the Sendai Girls World championship and that only lasted 21 days. Obviously she’s decorated in tag team wrestling, but the big singles match is what most companies really push as their big time main events, which I don’t feel she’s had enough of. She has the aura, and the look, but for whatever reason the star power just doesn’t click as much as I’d like.”

“She transitioned herself from a legendary tag team wrestler with her sister Sachiko Sendai to a upper midcard singles star. Her recent victory over Mika Iwata for the Sendai Girls Championship shows that she can also be a main eventer. However, her title reign was too short to establish her as such. DASH has got everything it takes to be a top singles star in any organization though: highly charismatic, hard hitting, no-nonsense athlete who can take anyone to their limits.”

OVERALL STAR POWER RATING: 8.05
Based On: 10 Creators & 7 “Crowd” Entries
The only comments we got from the members of the crowd this time was the recognition of her being the “Queen of Hardcore.” As you can see though, DASH is well liked and has a pretty balance stat line when it comes to the ratings given to her. Some people are higher on her than others, but that’s to be expected because everyone has different tastes when it comes to their pro wrestling fandom.
If a wrestler was to get a 10 in each of the eight categories they’d have a total score of 80, but no one is perfect so that shouldn’t be expected. Out of our contributors Peps_Wrestling was actually the highest on her with a total score of 70 out of 80. The contributor who was the lowest on her was actually the lovely folks from the Cult of Joshi Podcast who only gave her a total rating of 57 out of 80. So as you can see there was a pretty big gap between the lowest and highest this time around.
Let’s not waste anymore time, let’s reveal that finalized rating…

An overall rating of 8.05 will put DASH Chisako in third place out of four so far in the “Joshi Wrestler Index.” The 8.05 is a very solid number for the talented veteran, and I think once we rate quite a few more wrestlers she’ll find herself towards the upper middle of the pack which is nothing to be upset about. While I don’t see DASH getting better at this point in her career, I think that she’ll be able to keep up this high level of work for quite a few more years down the road. It will be interesting to see when she will decide to call it quits on her career, but hopefully that won’t be anytime soon.
